Ngoan Muc can be said to be one of the most splendid passes through Viet Nam. That name itself – Ngoan Muc – partly suggests its special beauty. Crossing the pass in a car, tourists have a chance to admire its splendour. It has a length of 18.5 kilometres and an average slope of 9 degrees. Consequently, it is the steepest in comparision with those in Southern provinces. Looking down from the windows of the car, passengers can view the sharply steep and deep side of the pass. Half hidden from masses of pine trees is the winding road with cars crawling up and down slowly. In the distance is the plain of Phan Rang with the Cai river snaking along. Two range of mountains surround Phan Rang – as a valley – stretching to the sea. On fine days, passengers can also see white sand dunes, the sea and foaming waves.
