Coffee festival opens in Central Highlands province
Over 100 domestic and foreign businesses are displaying their products in more than 300 booths at the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, which opened in Central Highlands Dak Lak Province on Dec. 2, 2005.
On display are coffee beans, coffee powder, machinery and technology for coffee cultivation, production and processing.
Seminars on coffee production and cultural and sport activities featuring the traditional culture of ethnic minority groups in the Central Highlands will be held on the sidelines of the festival - the first of its kind in Vietnam.
The festival, jointly organised by the Vietnam Coffee Corporation and the municipal People’s Committee, will introduce the Vietnamese coffee sector's potential and achievements, and the "Buon Ma Thuot coffee" trademark to domestic and foreign customers.
It will also provide an opportunity for the participants to promote cooperation and share experiences in coffee production, processing and trading.
Vietnam is now the world’s second largest coffee producer with an annual export volume of 750,000-850,000 tonnes of coffee beans.
